Rideau Valley
Wildlife Sanctuary
Raccoons, Foxes, and Bears... Oh My!
We all have a soft spot for animals, with their cute, bushy tails and little grubby hands, making them impossible not to love. So I decided to create a campaign to help raise funds for the Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. While it's just a concept at the moment, I hope it could one day turn into something real and make a difference.

Step 01
What Is The Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary?
The Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is a registered charity located near Ottawa, Ontario, focused on the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wild mammals and reptiles. The sanctuary provides medical treatment to a variety of native species, including raccoons, squirrels, skunks, foxes, and birds, many of which are injured by vehicles or orphaned due to human activities. With the help of community support, the sanctuary offers a second chance at life for these animals, while also educating the public on co-existing peacefully with wildlife.
Step 02
Concept And Brainstorm
This campaign seeks to raise funds for the Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary by offering supporters the chance to "adopt" an animal. In return, they will receive a virtual photo and a brief description of the animal through an app. Participants will also have the special opportunity to name new arrivals at the sanctuary before they are released into the wild. Access to the app will be provided through a QR code included with the purchase of a set of wooden coasters featuring artwork of the sanctuary's animals or a small DIY wood carving kit of a raccoon or fox.

Step 03
Design Style Ideas
I wanted to keep a fun and playful style with vibrant patterns and layouts to match their current branding, while also ensuring the design appealed to children and was family-friendly. At the same time, I still wanted to maintain a clean and minimalistic look. To achieve this, I chose to make the animal geometric, giving it a slightly rigid, chopped appearance—similar to the way wood can look when it's first carved—to represent that hand-crafted, wood-carving feel.
Step 04
Final Result
The final result turned out exactly as I had envisioned, blending playful elements with a clean, minimalistic design. The vibrant patterns and geometric animal shapes give the project a fun and engaging feel, while still maintaining the sophisticated touch of wood-carving inspiration. The combination of these elements ties together well with the sanctuary's branding, appealing to both children and families. Overall, I believe the final piece successfully captures the spirit of the campaign and the mission of the Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.
